Happy Robbie Burns day

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News wishes you all the best on this very special day – and whether or not that includes haggis is up to you.

Here’s the haggis money shot:

And here’s the vegetarian version, which, apparently, tastes just as bad as the real thing:

At the Scottie News world headquarters, we’ll stick to whiskey. Cheers to all you Scots and Scottish dog lovers. Here’s a word from the man himself:

He was a gash an’ faithful tyke,
As ever lap a sheugh or dyke.
His honest, sonsie, baws’nt face
Ay gat him friends in ilk place;
His breast was white, his tousie back
Weel clad wi’ coat o’ glossy black;
His gawsie tail, wi’ upward curl,
Hung owre his hurdies wi’ a swirl.”
(The Twa Dogs)

Och! Makes you want to put your dog in a kilt to match yours.

  1. Och indeed. My head is aching this fine Saturday and I didn’t so much as touch the haggis. Whiskey all the way.

  2. Unfortunately I had to work so I couldn’t make it to the St. Andrews Club Burns Night dinner… but last year…
    they had the BEST haggis ever…. yummmmm missed
    having it this year. A VERY hard thing to come by in
    this desert called Las Vegas. Having owned 70% of the Scotties in this town between my daughter and myself, we’re pretty lonely out here. The hope is that we met
    a cute puppy last month at the dog park so we’re growing a bit.
