Is donating bald toothless dog passive aggressive?

It’s times like these that make diplomats wish we all had draconian quarantine laws like the British. A group of Peruvians has offered to donate a Peruvian Hairless Dog to the Obama family.

“We want to give a male puppy to Obama’s daughters, so they get to experience all the joys of having a dog but without any allergies,” Claudia Galvez, 38, director of the Friends of the Peruvian Hairless Dog Association told Reuters.

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News isn’t sure why the bit about it being a male is so important. Or why Ms. Galvez doesn’t get that this breed might not be a little girl’s first choice. Or just what Miss Manners would do to avoid a diplomatic incident and politely turn down this gift.

  1. I have to agree with you….I kinda doubt this breed would appeal to two young girls.
Saw on my local news last night that a man in Ocala, Florida, who breeds Yorkies has some pups for the Obama family….but says if they’d like one, THEY will have to travel here to get it. They’re MUCH too fragile to travel alone. Hmm, I tend to doubt THAT will happen. And gee, I can’t help but wonder if this has more to do with getting the Pres.-Elect to Ocala than the puppies.

  2. I don’t know.

I think little girls pretty much love any dog that greets them at the door, is patient when they dress it up in dolly clothes, is there to listen to them when they are happy or sad, and will play with them any time of the day.

There might be better choices, but I’m sure that if the Obama girls took to the hairless, there would be no dissuading them.

Also, the Mexican/South American hairless dogs are reputed to be a source of powerful good luck. Hey, this country could use some!
