Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot aka Sadie the rich girl wins the Westminster terrier group

Go Sadie go!!!!! We will be cheering for you tomorrow even if you were born with a silver spoon in your big Scottie jaw and Charmin’s the Sealyham boy next door.

Scottish Terriers have won Westminster six times so we hope this doesn’t count against Sadie. We also hope that Barney Bush’s biting and other bad behaviour doesn’t result in any bad PR for our girl.

Update: USA Today reports:

Here’s to the Scots:

It was a good day for the Scots. First came the Scottish Deerhound and then the Scottish Terrier. “Maybe I should have a Scotch,” handler Gabriel Rangel joked after Sadie, the Scottish Terrier, won the ultra-competitive Terrier Group on Monday.

Rangel doesn’t mind trafficking in stereotypes when he talks about his favorite girl. “If someone wants experience living with a female, she would be it,” he says. “You can’t do anything. She’s very sensitive, wants love, can get in a bad mood.” Rangel is smiling as he says this, adding, “She’s a princess.”

Sadie, who’s two and was the No. 2 Terrier in the country last year, won the ultra-competitive Terrier Group on Monday. Sadie’s best friend is a Chihuahua named Tad who will be competing today.

“She loves him. He’s her husband,” Rangel says. “She’s sensitive to his size.” Sadie’s 22 pounds, Tad is five pounds. “There’s a love affair between them,” he says.

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News is actively looking for pictures of this rather odd couple.

  1. We were soooo excited to see Sadie win the terrier group. Charmin is a beautiful girl, but she’s not a Scottie!

  2. Wow! Seeing all the excellent Scotties together makes me so happy. I noticed some snapping when the handlers got them too close together – c’mon now, don’t crowd these dogs together like that. I love Sadie’s head carriage. Her neck and shoulders don’t look stiff. A few of the other dogs did seem a bit stiff through the neck. But Sadie has great free head movement and great hindquarters too. Just my 2 cents. Hearing that she has a 5-lb Chihuahua hubby kills me, that’s too cute! I really want to see him. I’ll check out the Chi class. Go Sadie!

  3. Hi, I accidentaly came across this page and saw the pictures and coments on Sadie, I have a few pics of Sadie and Tad at a portrait setting at the show, but don’t know how to post them here, or who to e-mail them to.
please let me know, and I will be happy to do it
    Thank you
