Allergies: an update on Smokie the Scottie dog

If you read the Scottish Terrier and Dog News in newsletter or RSS form, you might not have seen all the comments about skin allergies on the original post about ailing Smokie. Readers also emailed many helpful suggestions which I plan to bring together into one post some time in the very near future.

Thank you very much, everyone, and we will wait to hear what happens with Smokie while wishing him a full recovery.

  1. My wheaten scottie has lost pigmentation in her nose. Her nose, which used to be all black, is suddenly almost gray, with a bit of pink on the top. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I’ve done some reading on the Internet, but would like to hear from other scottie owners. I will be calling the vet, but would like to hear from other scottie owners.

    1. My scottie Charlie Rose lost the pigment on her bottom lip. Her lip used to be black as my other scottie Pepper Jo’s lips are – but after a round of steroids her lip turned pink. It looks like she is always sticking her tongue out – no matter she is still beautiful. If there was a way of making her lip black again (short of a black magic marker) I would definitely try it.
