The dog’s not a Scottish Terrier, but it’s as close as we could get. Happy Columbus Day, everyone.

Sir David Wilkie’s 1834 painting — Christopher Columbus in the Convent of La Rabida Explaining His Intended Voyage — can be found in the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.
