Video: Dartagnan the iron man of Scottish Terrier agility athletes

Just watching Dartagnan has the Scottie News editorial team exhausted:

I have to admit I was just a little bit disappointed that, given this took place in Brazil and all, that there weren’t some raucous, hugging celebrations at the end of it all.

Dartagnan deserves to have a fuss made of him as does his trainer. You go guys.

  1. Good heavens. I have never seen such a thing as a Scotty doing agility. Our little girl, Mary, Queen of Pinheads, was utterly uninterested in any activity other than cleaning the faces of her stuffed toys and putting them to bed. And our boy, Packy (King o’ the Wolves), was quick to understand and act on any commands he happened to agree with. But he would NEVER have done agility. He always felt he was the smartest member of the family (he might well have been right), and if you asked him to do something he wasn’t interested in, he’d look at you with a calm smile and a “nolle prosequi” look–“If you want that tennis ball fetched, YOU go fetch it.” šŸ™‚

    1. I am saddened to report that not only are ac4rd’s Scotties invoking “nolle prosequi”, but, so are mine, all FIVE of them.

We have a gopher in our back yard. The little bastard is tearing the place up all my himself. Yet, my Scotties sit and WATCH him do it. Indeed, Duncan the Terminator of Play Toys looks at the little devil pushing up dirt and ignores him.

Maybe no food or treats for a few days?

      Chagrined in Chandler.

  2. I think I’ve said this before, but Kirk and I had a go at agility and failed miserably. All this quick right and left got us both mixed up, we always ended up colliding, much to the amusement of the dog trainer in charge. Truth is neither of us are very agile for short periods, we both prefer slow, long distance, scenic escapades, with plenty of sniffing about and a stop off at the local watering hole šŸ™‚

  3. That Scottie has some serious hang time with those jumps. Great form and speed. We have several Scotties here in Dallas that do agility quite well. It may not be for every Scottie, but what activity is for all dogs. I say try it, if only for the comedy.
