Oh, how times have changed! These days, it’s just about as hard to sell a Ford as to use free puppies as an advertising gimmick.

This Buffalo-area promotion from 1937 was tied to Ford’s “Aye and thrifty too” campaign. We learned about it thanks to our friends at Interior Design Hound — more specifically, Mr. Interior Design Hound,  who kindly provided this story from his collection.

  1. If you read the fine print, you will see that each Scottie / car combo came with a free squirt bottle — good to use for both the dog and the windshield. (Ha, ha.)
