Malachy the Pekingese wins Westminster 2012

The Daily Mail reports in its inimitable fashion:

This Peke was at his peak.

Malachy the Pekingese wobbled off with best in show tonight at the Westminster Kennel Club, becoming America’s dog to the delight of an adoring crowd that called his name.

The four-year-old bobbing pompom won his 115th overall best in show title. He beat out a Dalmatian, German shepherd, Doberman pinscher, Irish setter, a Kerry blue terrier and wire-haired dachshund at Madison Square Garden.

Scottie News congratulates Malachy. We’re still feeling the Sadie glow. From one winner to another and all that.

  1. Wow, that Judge had her work cut our for her. Such a nice group of dogs last night for Best of Show.

During the Terrier group I got a good chuckle from the announcer when the Scott was judged. Those were not textbook traits, but they were funny.

  2. I’m sure he’s an awesome dog, because he’s a dog and all dogs are awesome, but when I see that Peke I wonder if the planet has been invaded by some sort of alien beings. I was pulling for the Dachsie.

    1. A Dachsie has never won. And I find those wirehairs very terrier like. I would have liked to see a Cinderella story, which it really would have been given the wiener dog was called Cinders.

  3. The Pekingese??????? Really??????? I seriously almost fell over watching it! It’s not a dog, it’s a dust mop!

      1. I have never met any Pekes, but I love Tricky Woo from the TV show “All Creatures Great and Small”! I was waiting for Malachy to go cracker dog or flop bot!
