Mitt Romney rescued Scottish Terrier

Mitt Romney, contender for the Republican leadership and a guy who’s faced a lot of tough criticism here at the Scottish Terrier and Dog news, may not have treated his Irish Setter Seamus particularly well, but it turns out he has some other important dog history. In 2003, he saved the life of a Scottish Terrier caught in a boating accident, according to a Boston Herald report.

In the middle of the rescue, the governor actually took a dunking himself — thrown off the Jet Ski as one anxious boater scrambled aboard and tipped the craft off-balance.

The rescuing Romneys also managed to snatch the family dog, McKenzie, from a watery grave — grabbing the Scottish terrier first because it was the only passenger without a lifejacket.

“It looked like it wasn’t going to last much longer,” said Josh, who held the waterlogged pooch on the ride back to shore.

Harry says, “That’s a great story! Saving a Scottie, what’s better than that?”

I wouldn’t be surprised if this little story wasn’t a fake, or altered tremendously, seeing as it’s turning up now. At this moment. After all the Seamus stuff and the backlash from his poor treatment. And the man’s trying to be the president. Just sayin’……think about about it.

I don’t know, Stuart. Mediaite doesn’t really have an ulterior motive.

I suspect the reason Romney’s team have not raised this recently is because — despite the rescue incident being potentially good for MR’s image — it dredges up the whole Seamus thing, which has already been proven to be very damaging. Potential damage outweighs potential positive impact, in other words.

You’re probably right about that. It would dredge up that whole nasty incident.

Allison’s right. Maybe Josh should be the one to run!

Arooo! Stuart

I believe it’s true. If you read the story, unless I’m mistaken, Josh Romney was on one Jet ski, his father on the other. Josh Romney rescued the dog, not his father.

Not only did he rescue the dog, he plucked the beast out first, recognizing the obvious, Scotties can’t swim forever.

Josh Romney for President!!!!
