German politician had brush with law over biting Scottie

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News missed this story when it first surfaced late last year. German justice minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger’s Scottie Franzi landed her in trouble with the law when he bit a passerby, who tried to pet him while he was out on a dog walk.

My German’s a bit rusty, but as far as I can tell, the victim filed an official complaint, before things ended up being settled out of court.

According to Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, Franzi, who occasionally accompanies his mistress minister to the national capital Berlin on business, is a loving and harmless dog and the incident in question was just an unfortunate accident.

Apparently the biting was a one-time lapse on the part of Franzi, who often attends meetings with his minister mistress

  1. A simple psychotic break. Casey Jane, my 10-year-old Westie is known for them.

It seems that the settlement was for $6,0000 Euros — about $8000. If that had happened in the U.S., she might have had to pay a lot more.
