The Scottie News apologizes for bringing you this sad story. Please let it serve as a cautionary tale and be sure to carefully check any dog boarding operations before you leave your dog in their care.
The Scottish Terrier and Dog News missed this story when it first surfaced late last year. German justice minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger’s Scottie Franzi landed her in trouble with the law when he bit a passerby, who tried to pet him while he was out on a dog walk.
My German’s a bit rusty, but as far as I can tell, the victim filed an official complaint, before things ended up being settled out of court.
According to Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, Franzi, who occasionally accompanies his mistress minister to the national capital Berlin on business, is a loving and harmless dog and the incident in question was just an unfortunate accident.
In Washington State, firefighters rescue Maggie the Scottie after she fell down a cliff and got stuck in a blackberry bush on a rock ledge 70 feet above the water. According to the report in the Islands Sounder, responders used well-practiced rope rescue operations.
Does that mean they hooked Maggie up with a rope and pulled her out of the bush? It’s hard to believe they lowered her in the other direction, but what do I know? Maybe some informed readers can enlighten the Scottie News.
To get your week off to the best possible start, we’ve placed some adorable puppies (courtesy of Sandy) atop the Scottish Terrier and Dog News this morning. Come check them out.
