A few readers have reported problems with the Westminster watching situation so the Scottie News is going to try and give you a hand. Keep in mind that this is just how things are supposed to work. We can’t guarantee they will work. But we’re hoping.
No need to have USA Network (or for you Canadians, Animal Planet), anyone with access to the internet can watch the entire proceedings of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show online from the breed competitions to the Best in Show finale.
USA Network is not just letting the whole wired world watch. It’s also offering “social viewing experiences including community chatting, interviews, FB and Twitter integrations and real-time behind the scenes moments from the floor. USA is partnering with UStream for the video coverage, which will be accessible worldwide via online and mobile phones. The show will be telecast on USA Network from Madison Square Garden on Monday, Feb. 13 and Tues., Feb. 14, 2012, starting at 8/7c.”
This is a long video at half an hour, but it’s a fun look at all the different terrier types as the judge runs through the breeds in alphabetical order.
I’ve got to say that I find the Bedlingtons and Dandy Dinmonts kind of goofy while I love the look of Norfolks and Norwichs. (Remember the reader tip to tell the difference — with their pointy ears Norwichs are like witches in in pointy hats.)
It was also interesting to learn that Lomondview Clementina goes by Phoebe for short, was born in Scotland and now lives in Miami, which doesn’t seem like a real Scottie town. As she was strutting her stuff, the commentator noted, “They are not big listeners” and “She looks a little bossy.” Agree or disagree?
How too about that description of Scottie owners as having to be “confident enough to love a dog that openly feels superior to its owner?” Again, agree or disagree?
It seems that being naughty exuberant doesn’t disqualify you from winning Best of Breed at Westminster.
The Scottie News would like to congratulate Clementina, a true terrier, on winning this year’s Scottish Terrier crown.
Felicitations too to GCH Friendship Hill Stars And Stripes, the first dog in the video who won Best of Opposite Sex, and GCH Mcvan’s Be Bop Baby, the fourth contestant, who takes home the Award of Merit.

Many thanks to Scottie News readers for the tips and pictures link.
If you go over and take a look you will see the entire c-section birth documented in photos. Warning: not for the faint of heart as much blood and many sharp instruments are involved.
On Facebook, Anstamm’s Cindy Cooke writes: “Sadie and Winston (A. Prime Minister) are proud to announce the arrival of 5 new Scottie puppies, 4 girls and a boy. There’s one wee girl, just under 5 oz and the rest are between 7-8 oz. Sadie is resting and refusing interviews until she has recovered from the surgery. Thanks for everyone who has wished us well in this endeavor.”
Congratulations, Sadie, from the Scottish Terrier News.
A bad cold has been making its way around the world headquarters of the Scottish Terrier and Dog News so the staff has not been up for any heavy duty research other than our ongoing efforts to sort out a major technical problem. So major props to our readers, who first passed on the news of Sadie’s pregnancy and then figured out who Winston was. All Scottie News had to do was locate a picture of Anstamm Prime Minister on the web.
And, of course, Westminster is next week just in case you’d forgotten.
